Well, it's a toughie. I quite like old style cut and thrust debates, but that is seldom what we get at Prime Minister's Questions. Real issues get lost in what turns into Billy Bunter style sixth-form/remove fights of Yaroo and paper planes. What matters to the people gets totally ignored in some pretty puerile points scoring, which can be entertaining but not very helpful.
Here follow some clips of various speakers trying to keep the mess under control. There are two from Betty Boothroyd because I think she's magnificent.

Was yesterday helpful? It was a good start. JC needs to build upon his opening questions, so that Cameron can't just resort to stock phrases from the big blue book of why your pain is necessary for our prosperity. Naturally the Tory backbenchers are sniggering about it; poor buggers really thought they had escaped thinking about their constituents for a while. A whole bunch of whoopee cushions and custard pies lie sadly neglected under their chairs. Ah well.
