No Cable Street for me
Oct. 9th, 2016 10:03 am...My guests are still snoozing, and not only would I feel rude dashing off, I don't get to spend time with
velvet_the_cat and her partner often enough. Last night was a mighty supper, rounded off with extreme amounts of red wine, different cheeses, port and excellent conversation.
I am very content.
My cousin's wife has just been interviewed for La Razon, regarding what it is like to be a foreign NHS worker after Brexit. http://www.larazon.es/internacional/los-europeos-que-viven-en-reino-unido-podran-quedarse-tras-el-brexit-IM13687780#.Ttt1Lvy2AIgqFuq
My contentment is short lived.

Date: 2016-10-10 09:04 am (UTC)The gist is basically about the dependence of the NHS on foreign workers. My cousin's wife is quoted saying that she came here 4 years ago and she is so grateful to have had the opportunity to advance her career, but if the tide of racism grows any higher she doesn't see how she can stay and have her family here, though she was choked up on leaving work one day (post Brexit) to see a banner saying 'We want our foreign workers.'
