I woke and this was there:

THE DRAGON
Last night I slept with a dragon
He was all heat and shiver
All benzoin and silver
Coil absinthe
Smile labyrinth

Last night I slept with a dragon
smoke on the sand between us
Not even shadows see us
find secret shores
Unfasten doors

And if he says he changes shape
That trick's not hard to do.
And if he says you can't escape
Although you know it's true
You'll climb those stairs to find
One of like kind
And this sly trap's for him
For him
As much as it's for you

I removed ellipses. Like so many, I have ellipse fever. It doesn't rage as fiercely as my semicolon syndrome, which in fairness, I had long before it became epidemic. I was using dodgy grammar like 'So' at the beginning of sentences decades before the hip kids made it cool. Well, OK, maybe not that last one. I know all these things but it changes nothing.

Really bad night's sleep, excellent dreams none of which remain in my head. Most annoying. Still, at least the dragon has stayed.
