That bloody alarm's just gone off again.

It started randomly doing this a few weeks back. Engineer came, declared it to be old, replaced the battery.

It's gone off again for no reason twice since then, before today. Today it's excelled itself three times in a row.

Make that five. Two more in as many minutes.

Speaking to the company that supposedly fixed it, they are angling for us to buy a new system (struggled hard not to say 'why yes, of course, having given you £80 to fix something badly we are absolutely going to hand over thousands in the hope that you won't botch your next installation.' What I did make clear was that we're not discussing new stuff with people who aren't reliable with old stuff. And if that sounds like code for do your job that's because it is.

Meanwhile, our lovely cat lady is almost convinced there's a ghost around needing attention. I came close to believing it myself, when at weekend mate's place, his roomba started up out of nowhere, wandered across the room and stopped. There was it, just me, a momentarily confused roomba and no sense of spookery.

If there's anyone/thing trying to have a word, setting off alarms and household appliances is a pretty oblique way of doing it; it is, however, an efficient method for irritating the bejasis out of me.

*Thinks to self* Jeez, I hope it's not Dave.

*Thinks to self again* Jeez, I really hope it's not Akhenaten.

Roombas nesting cozily in their base station sometimes start to wander when there are momentary fluctuations in electrical currents.

At least, mine did.
