Now that the victim's stable and all's as well as can be, the stories begin and I've already heard two different ones from normally reliable sources.

One is that the perp is a person already awaiting trial for an incident with a machete at a bowling club. The other is that the attack weapon was a screwdriver, not a knife, and the suspicion is of youthful out of towners.

But what matters is that this has not been a tragedy. A horror for sure, but the boy lives.

And I wish I could sleep, knowing that.
