There's pain and there's ouch

smokingbootPain. Ooh, smarts, plenty of pain. It's the same hand that I put the crystals on, only much worse now; I tried to pick up our smallest cat with that hand, and cried out, had to put him back.
My theory about those crystals were that they were cold and dry, which is why it worked. They were cold and dry cause I have left them in a cold dry place for years untouched. Now, they are just that bit warmer, not as good.
Anti inflams helped a bit; docs did warn about this as a letrozole thing, but this was a bit serious, rendered that hand completely unusable for about 12 hours. Now it's OK for typing, grim for carrying things. If a cold compress and more ibuprofen doesn't work, I'm a bit stuffed.
And speaking of stuffed, mate's place in Malta available, free, good company, cocktails and temples plus Shark Lab, excellent! Cat care for staying overnight, feeding, cleaning trays, and medicating for 7 days? £283, more than the price of the holiday itself. I would stay if R would go without me because he's been amazing, and I think deserves a break at least as much as I do. I admit I would be a bit wistful at first, but I can do it. He calls that idea ridiculous.
Still trying to find someone who can be relied on for less than this because while I get that pet care companies cream a considerable chunk off the top, this feels like bad faith. The other option is to have a cat carer drop in twice/three times a day. Of course what happens is that the price gets too high, people stop using the service, so when the opportunities do arise, cat sitters charge sky high prices for it.
