I spent yesterday morning translating a 19th century Peruvian death certificate.

R recommended to me that I smell the blossoms on the crabapple tree. I bought this tree for its beautiful blooms.

The fruit is scanty, just as well I'd say. Is there such a thing as a tasty crabapple? All my life I've been told they make great jams, full of pectin and vitamin C, but I dismiss these as ruses. Anything birds and bugs won't touch is only good for catapult shot.

But I had no idea it had such a delectable scent, delicate yet palpable. Somehow I missed it before. It just makes me want to fill the garden with them, in fact right now what I want is a place full of blossoming trees, black tulips, purple lilacs and bluebells, And roses. And lilies. And a swing. And a folly. And suddenly I am Fragonard's lady in the exploding dress.

Trying to imagine R going for it. While he might enjoy the view, one smack in the head with a mis-kicked shoe would ruin the whole effect.

Ha, ha, ha, ha! 😀

Flying shoes to the head are an occupational hazard of the swing life. I'm quite sure R understands that. And would willingly put up with it. For the view. 😀

The lady with the weird legs. Her upper thigh must be four feet long.

Lilacs are out all over my neighbourhood. Makes walking a pleasure. But personally I'd have a plum tree. Heavenly delicious scent.

I did not know that crabapple blossoms were delightful!
