The Fortunate Isles

It was that time of year again; To the wilds of Lancashire with a hot tub, green fields and good friends! This is our second time near or in the Lune Valley, and it was very beguiling. We ate, we drank - God knows we drank - we put the world to rights, we met other excellent mates in a welcoming pub, we talked and talked. It was wonderful. We really need time during these catch-ups to go explore the local area rather than parboiling ourselves for hours on end, but the latter has excellent cocktails included so it's all very unlikely. Still, even from the confines of a hot tub beset with flutes of fizz, one can't help gazing at the Green and Pleasant Land and feeling happy.



Then yesterday, I went to visit a friend in Burntisland, to join her at their Highland Games. It was such a charming rail journey, I am tempted to take it again to randomly get out at some stop I don't know up the East Coast. Suddenly there are rabbits everywhere, while on the rocks lay blissed out seals, heads and tails turned up in banana shapes. We didn't go to the games in the end; we went down to the sea and played with her dogs instead.





Today I woke up between 5 and 6. It's a day of things I do not want to do, and I am extremely tired but OK. I give myself one more hour to read and enjoy, then try to get all the necessary sorted before 12 noon.
