My mother's list of anti-cancer foods
Dec. 1st, 2024 10:41 amCopied here because I am bound to lose the paper list:
Avocado pear
Beetroot
Sweet potato
Kale
Cherry tomatoes
Amarantho (she doesn't know what this is in English and neither do I)
Barley
Spelt
Asparagus
Aubergines
Lentils
Parsley
Coconut in all its forms
Arandanos (possibly cranberries, possibly blueberries)
Goats cheese
Yoghurt with no additives
Sprouts
Lettuce
Garlic
Ginger
Onions
Asparagus
Green beans
Mushrooms
Olives
Jucar (no idea what this is)
Cottage Cheese
Feta Cheese
Cucumber
Endive
Coriander
Green (Spring?) Onions
Nopal (pads of the opuntia cactus. Unheard of as an edible here)
Pumpkin
Pomegranate
Black beans
Lemon
Chickpeas
Calabash
Banana
She forgot peppers.
And incredibly has stopped talking about the necessity of Guanabana.
Next she intends to send me a list of appropriate anti-cancer flours.
I do respect her effort and this list is surely a basis for a very good diet, irrespective of curative properties. But she is completely innocent re the extent of my laziness. Even supposing I could find fresh prickly pear in Scotland, I haven't the first idea how to cook it. And Jucar is a complete mystery to me.

Date: 2024-12-08 06:29 pm (UTC)I'm doing my best to eat plant-based, but as you mentioned, my laziness is quite the barrier. I'm so over cooking and so anything more ramen or couscous with some cut up veggies is too much effort.
BTW, this is amaranth. Grows as a weed here in the states, and I'm allergic to it, of course. lol https://www.thespruceeats.com/what-is-amaranth-5077691
