The Morning Moon

smokingbootLow in the sky this morning, light as raw topaz, pink below, blue above, grey craters shimmering as though I could reach them from here. The moon formed her face for a moment telling me not to be scared, not to worry, that I have no real reason to be either.
Little white cat sitting on the upturned firepit cover usually full of rainwater, now frozen. She likes to drink from it, and was scrabbling, trying to break through. Success would have brought her a nasty shock. I broke it for her when she got off, and naturally, she then wouldn't touch it. Walking in the garden, frost crunching under my feet, feeling happy.
