That was very cute, especially when the guy in the pub said, "Hey, did you know Paddy could speak Chinese?!" And the very international scene in the hostel was fun too. I ~ ~ kind ~ ~ of doubt the trouble the guy had with knife and fork. In Japan--which is not China, I know--everyone knows how to use a knife and fork, and my impression from the mingling of world cuisines and China's place in the world today, etc. etc. is that people in China would know how to use one too. But maybe not!
I was also pleased at the beginning when the girl said he'd given her the wrong change and the subtitles said "really?" because I was able to recognize the phrase from Duolingo Chinese. Wohoo!
So I take it Conemarra is one of the places in Ireland where Gaelic still is spoken?
Yes, Connemara either is entirely or much of it is a Gaeltacht, meaning a part of the country where the government recognises Irish as the official language. The place has a very strong connection to Irish culture and identity. They say it's beautiful too!
