Very pleasant visit from [profile] evilwillow and [profile] cyanidemigraine this evening. Just nice to talk and froth. Ralik brought in a teeny tiny frog with one of its limbs missing. I put it in the garden, far away from His Prowliness. Later, caught another teeny tiny frog in the kitchen. Maybe we're on a migratory path or something. I put it out. Not long after, I found Ralik eating and playing with something he had caught, and I fear it was wee kitchen froggy.

I mustn't have a pond here. The garden will just become some sort of ranic killing fields.

Nature is horrible.

Poot! Poot!

It must be amphibian season or something. I just had to rescue and evict a toad from the living room. The patio door has been open pretty much all day so I can only assume the fellow hopped in out of today's nasty heat. He was just fortunate that the resident cat is outstandingly sedentary...

I wouldn't mind a toad here; as I understand it, cats may leave them alone because their skin doesn't taste nice (maybe, possibly, or so I hear tell...) whereas the poor froggies don't seem to have any protection against being kitty crunch victims:-(

Is he your cat? What's his name?

Nah, I rent a room in this house, that's all. I have no cat interaction rights. Indeed, it is only in the last couple of weeks that the cat has even deigned to acknowledge me as a potential source of food by wowling at me first thing in the morning (I made the error of feeding him once or twice while everyone else was away on holiday, so am now, naturally, forever doomed to be considered a possible provider of sustenance...).

The cat in question (unambiguously known as 'cat') is recognised by the entire household to be more likely a source of laceration than one of affection and is consequently widely avoided...

The amphibian, however, rocked. I could deal with a house toad, I reckon.

I think there was a jester once called Toadstone. Or maybe I just read that in some story.

A house toad would be a terrific pet!
