smokingbootI do this meme every year, as a kind of personal marker. Usually I do it closer to the year's end, but I'm looking forward to booting 2005 farewell, so here we go.
1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Visited Paris. Visited Basle. Wrote something I like. Sipped gin and tonic on the roof of a houseboat. Went hawking and fed vultures. Ate genuine medieval sweetmeats. Finished some introductory training in counselling. Hmm, come to think of it, maybe it hasn't been such a bad year...
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Time management was the biggie, and I've certainly improved in that respect. Not much, but I'm getting there. Next year? More efficiency in getting stuff done and out there.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Oh my, yes. Vickiy sans lj gave birth to a lovely little boy called Garrett, andmamapusscat brought sweet little son Eden into the world. Other friends have had babies too, but those two are the closest.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
France and Switzerland.
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Health, wealth, success...and time to relax!
7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Birthdays; Mine andnovember_girl's, because they were utterly amazing.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Surviving it.
9. What was your biggest failure?
work and money became very difficult, see 10.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yup, our house has been full of horrendous illness, me, my partner, the cats, enough already!
11. What was the best thing you bought?
A beautiful little pear tree called Quincey. A hot beef soup with pancakes in a restaurant by the Rhine.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
larians mum, without whom travelling between hospital and the vets would have been a nightmare.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Let's not waste time discussing them.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Time ate it.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
A possible relocation, some fantastic parties, big red eyed owls, and stuff being written.
16. What song will always remind you of 2005?

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Fluctuating wildly between the two.
b) thinner or fatter? Same
c) richer or poorer? Richer I think
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing. Playing!
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being ill. Being surrounded by illness.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Cuddled up right heeyah, with mince pies, champers, prezzies, my kitties and my love.
21. Did you fall in love in 2005?
Yup, over and over again. Great isn't it:-)
22. How many one-night stands?
You will have to asklarians They were all with him!
23. What was your favorite TV program?
House, Futurama and Doctor Who all vie for top place.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate is too strong a word. Let's just say I'm more aware of certain people's deficiencies.
25. What was the best book you read?
Shadow of the Vampuss. I freely confess to having only looked at the pictures.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Changing channels
27. What did you want and get?
With the exception of the whole experience of Paris, much of my year was about getting rid of past issues, physically and emotionally. Major deal closure was my gift to myself.
28. What did you want and not get?
Money, fast results.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Day in Montmartre, fondue restaurant with amazingly friendly strangers, followed by too much champagne at the moulin rouge. I was 208.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Health.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
Occasionally chocolate.
33. What kept you sane?
excellent friends.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None. Barely looked at them. Oh wait, there was Christopher Ecclestone's version of Dr Who, but it was the doctor rather than the actor that got my attention...
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Lots of these! But my year was really lightened up by the Law Lords prohibiting information gathered through torture being used as evidence. Sometimes the mad old buffers do us so proud, I could kiss the lot of them!
36. Who did you miss?
mamapusscat and other London friends
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:
If you can face it, you can probably sort it.
