Itty bits and pieces, too much to do, too much flotsam and jetsam in my head, and above all, too much work!

Writing begets writing. I decided that I was too busy to do my LJ because of the absurd amounts of stuff I had to get through, and to ‘save’ my writing time for something I am really interested in putting together. The result was that when the time came to write, I felt stale, and couldn't find the info I needed to get going. So I will begin again, writing bits of nothing and clearing my head of the weekend’s clutter…

As of today, our front room looks intensely pretty! Since we moved in, we’ve been using Beloved Bear’s old three piece suite, a flaccid mushroom coloured monstrosity only treated with respect because it had served BB well in the past. Durable and cheap it may have been once (1967 at a guess) but the springs caved in so comprehensively that any chosing to brave the sofa found themselves perched precariously in the middle, or half eaten by the foam monsters gnawing at either end. It was just plain embarrassing.

We had to buy a new suite, and like the sensible people we are, we bought a cream one to go with our magnolia front room, urgh. I've always found cream bland, and have been wanting to paint the whole room burgundy since we got here. Today the suite's turned up, and it’s gorgeous! The colour is all happy, banana tinted without going the whole fried canary route. I swear the room is smiling! Too nice to eat meals in, too nice to let smokers near, too nice, in fact, for slobs like us. We may have to move out into the conservatory. I’ve been trying to isolate what it is that makes this place look unkempt, and today it hit me. It’s us.
