Very spoiled

I am watching wood pigeons settle on bare branches, flocks of gulls flying overhead...it's peaceful. We had extraordinary gales up here, but none of the damage suffered by others in storms across the country. All is well, though the amount of time we spend dozing shows how tired we are. He is still asleep and I won't wake him. It has been an exhausting year.

Little words can't describe big hearts, so I won't try. Suffice it to say that the kindness around me has kept me going all year, and I don't know where I would be without it.

The presents were lovely as always; this time the star of the show for me was an art deco ruby and diamond ring from larians. We saw the ring in Whitby, I tried it on, loved it, heard the price and left it behind, only to discover yesterday that it had followed me home. Now I must get it evaluated for insurance etc. And invest in a manicure. I cannot shame the ring with my chewed up raggedy hands!
