After years of being told that culling badgers won't stop the spread of Bovine Tuberculosis, and might make it worse by spreading it, surprise surprise! BTB has indeed spread. No necropsies were done, so there were no statistics to prove one way or another whether the killed badgers were infected. And now, this disgusting government is offering farmers up to £50 a badger corpse, as the cull is rolled out to non threatened areas.

It doesn't matter what they say, Tories are unable to contemplate the countryside without wanting to kill something in it. I have never voted for them, because in all my days they have never changed. But my problem is this: without believing in Tory policies, I am just not sure about Jeremy Corbyn's politics, he's a proper old school Trot as far as I can tell. Nothing against that, but it can have knock-on problems, and my thought was that next time would probably be my point to vote once more for the Green party. But I think the next election may well be more about what we discard than what we keep, and I'll vote whichever way it takes to get these mendacious, venal, inept, cruel feckers out of government.

I saw a tree on fire last night
when all around the fields were shorn
and every crop was gathered in
from ricks of hay to sheaves of corn.

And when the tree was blazing bright,
The flame it spoke within my head
like sparks that sing throughout the night
that you were dead, that you were dead.

The fire reached up to touch the moon
And yet the tree stood on the hill
And though it burned, the leaves yet grew,
And though they grew, the tree burned still.

Though I know well how you are gone,
And no ghost waits to trouble me,
There is no cost, no love that's lost
While grows the green and burning tree.
