Meanwhile towards the Sierra Nevada...
Feb. 10th, 2020 07:06 amWhere my friend now lives, south of the city of Granada.

Envious? A bit but not entirely. After all I have a garden here to work with, though our surroundings are nowhere near as sublime, nor would they be if I went to look after my Mum, because she's a city girl. My ideal would be living 6 months there, 6 months here, interspersed with dashings across the world. Actually no, my ideal would be a tardis.
NuWho. OK. Some of it's been a bit preachy, but eh. I have problems when it's slated because the Doctor is now female, and am equally annoyed when the same root reason becomes more important than bad writing. There's no reason why the Doc shouldn't take a female shape, s/he is an alien after all, and I get very bored when aliens are basically humans in silver suits. But a change of shape isn't going to rescue rubbish plots, anymore than great acting can cover them up (poor Peter Capaldi!) Current Doctor's not as good as the Ecclestone/Tennant years, but nowhere near as bad as the Colin Baker/Sylvester McCoy era. Good monsters, not always efficiently used.
Storm Chiara rages, while I get on with my work, now and then blanking out to watch Ru Paul's Drag Race. I haven't seen them all, but from what I've seen, Sasha Velour's my preferred aesthetic, Valentina's the most beautiful she-male ever, and either Ben De La Creme or my major favourite, Bianca Del Rio would be magnificent candidates for Doctor Who incarnations. Even they would not compare with the One Doctor To Rule Them All: Tilda Swinton.
