My part in it is done, small but interesting. My performance was capable though not capital; too much blinking and eye movement but good reading. This haircut did not look good on screen, my face seems as wide as a pan, but re the work I got some nice compliments.

Overall assessment from the bits I watched; Emma is a far less easy novel to read aloud than P&P, but the easiest material in the world benefits from a few prior read-throughs. It was clear to see where that hadn't happened, where lack of familiarity was a stumbling block. But there were also some very assured and excellent performances, including a sparkling depiction of Mr Elton.

I would be delighted but surprised if this readathon was anywhere near as successful as the last.

It may be that I didn't exactly endear myself to the remaining cast at the after reading zoom party. There's a chance I came across as a contrarian; one member of the cast was talking about her preference for Georgette Heyer, recommending those works to all and sundry, and I couldn't help mentioning the extreme anti-semitism of that author, a characteristic crudely revealed in The Grand Sophy, a book that would otherwise be a delight. Suddenly I was one of those people I can't stand, people who spoil things. I am annoyed with myself, but on the other hand... Anyway, on went the convo, but the awareness of making the Heyer fan uncomfortable stayed with me.

And my crop circle pursuing friend is back in touch with his new trailer. He's talking about alien tech, but again, suddenly in that person mode, I see something that could be,
as the comments suggest,a green laser pointer, starlink or something. It feels awkward to not quite believe him. The content of his productions, interviews and the like, can be interesting, but all these sudden appearances of orbs/footage that could be dodgy, make me think more about his need for subscribers than alien technology.

Maybe I'm just in a crabby mood.
