Fighting real discontent.
Can't get in touch with Mum, whatever is up with her phone is clearly still a problem. At least, I hope that's all it is. Could contact family asking them to check that she is OK, but of course, there is always the issue of Covid. Completely and determinedly unvaccinated, she's vulnerable to any contact. Short of them standing outside her front door shouting in, god alone knows what they can do. And of course, this would happen now...
I am so wound up about it.
​Dad's birthday today. He would have been 79.
We're going to the Witchery tonight, where proto-curmudgeon Samuel Johnson and inventor of venereal disease James Boswell were said to converse. I like a bit of literary history. Samuel Johnson's greatness is rather like James Boswell's clap in that they are both better talked about than experienced. There, a bon mot worthy of Samuel Johnson himself. He'd hate it of course.
