Never forever
Feb. 21st, 2006 11:04 pmI never even liked this song, despite my theoretic knowledge of Kate Bush as a musical genius/dafty/weather balloon. I much preferred stuff like Hounds of Love, Waking the Witch, Cloudbusting, In the Raw, Army Dreamers, The Sensual World. I loved her world of half dreams and demi-ghosts, and have deliberately avoided her latest album, Aerial, cos I don't care if she's grown. I have, and that is separation enough.
So why of all things am I hearing
I hear him, before I go to sleep
And focus on the day that's been.
I realise he's there,
When I turn the light off and turn over.
Nobody knows about my man.
They think he's lost on some horizon.
And suddenly I find myself
Listening to a man I've never known before,
Telling me about the sea,
All his love, 'til eternity.
Ooh, he's here again,
The man with the child in his eyes.
Ooh, he's here again,
The man with the child in his eyes.
He's very understanding,
And he's so aware of all my situations.
And when I stay up late,
He's always waiting, but I feel him hesitate.
Oh, I'm so worried about my love.
They say, "No, no, it won't last forever."
And here I am again, my girl,
Wondering what on Earth I'm doing here.
Maybe he doesn't love me.
I just took a trip on my love for him.
Ooh, he's here again,
The man with the child in his eyes.
Ooh, he's here again,
The man with the child in his eyes.
I didn't like this song nigh on 20 years ago, and I don't now. But it is hammering around my head like my temperature's 103.
Clearly I'm not over this cold.

I do not understand a single aspect of it. And yet, it enthralls so completely that even analysis can't destroy its magic!

Date: 2006-02-22 01:27 am (UTC)It's a quote from Elrond, something about the sea calling us home...for no better reason than that Hugo Weaving + Kate Bush are on my list of Weird Trysts I'd Pay To Watch. of course, that only counts when he's being Elrond; Kate And Mr Smith would be too weird, even for me.

Date: 2006-02-22 09:17 am (UTC)All his love, 'til eternity popped into my head, but that is reaching. Pretty meaningless really and this morning I am staring at it thinking 'Why on earth did I put this on my lj?'
