Uppermost is the phone call that woke me this morning from my brother. My mother appears to be lost. She phoned him saying she was going to visit him in Antwerp. He made arrangements to meet her in a hotel. Then she phoned him saying she was actually somewhere in Germany. He asked her to read out her ticket to him, she did so and it said 'Anvers'(sp?) which is Antwerp in French. Then her phone went dead.

He has gone to all the major hotels in Antwerp, no sign of her. Now he's going to the police. Whatever plans I had are cancelled as I wait by the phone. I hope she turns up somewhere soon.

Here we see the real drawbacks of the European Union. Once upon a time my mother's adventuring capacity was limited to two countries, one of them admittedly big. Now she could be lost anywhere. If I could get lost anywhere in this moment, I'd choose another planet, via a coffee shop in Amsterdam.

My brain hurts.

Some very good stuff has happened; I've caught up with friends and had some excellent conversations, much food for thought and change. But the phone woke me early after last night's show, and I'm too tired to continue. More later, methinks, when I am awake x

*hugs* Thinking of you. I hope she is found safe and well imbibing a big cream tea in a hotel somewhere soon. Are there any ways to track her movements at all from an official side?

I can imagine that is very distressing - I hope you find where she has got to asap and everything turns out fine.

I'm sure she'll turn up soon. If nothing else, the train conductors will point her in the right direction for her ticket. I expect she forgot to charge her phone, too, just to add to the anxiety quotient.

She probably got on the wrong train somewhere in France and ended up in Germany or something. At least she had the sense to call him, so I should imagine that she will have the sense to get herself back to the right country. Try not to worry too much - worrying in this situation is futile as you can't affect this outcome.
