Dawn Chorus

I have been awake since between 4 and 4.30 am due to the nigh on hysterical bird song outside my window. Came downstairs and tried to write, to the major excitement of the kitties who have celebrated by pursuing dice, imaginary things and each other round and round the front room for hours whilst I listen to the distinct cooing of pigeons from within the chimney flue.
It's now 6.45 and my beloved's alarm has just gone off.

I will consider it a valorous feat to ever get this bastard story finished, and a miracle if it's actually any good.
