Help me intartubes, you're my only hope...
Aug. 4th, 2009 11:04 amIt has finally happened; two showreels are being created for me, and I am going to need a web page; something on which I can put showreel material plus possibly more footage later, text and a photo portfolio. I haven't a clue where to begin and I am brassic. Can anyone help please? I would be very grateful for advice etc, but I understand if everyone's too busy.

Date: 2009-08-05 10:32 am (UTC)If you go for MySpace, then you'll have a URL something like myspace.com/SmokingBoot (pretty much whatever you want after the slash) which won't cost you a penny. And as Bin says, a lot of people in the media use Myspace. The cost (such as it is) is that it's a social networking site, and therefore theres a time implication in it - posting blog messages, commenting on other people's sites, cultivating friends etc.
The other problem with MySpace is that it's quite difficult to make it look fantastic, and quite easy to make it look rubbish.
For the £60 / year, we're getting several domains (flay-deville.com, flay-deville.co.uk, irrepressible-events.com, irrepressible-events.co.uk etc) as well as the web hosting. We could probably get it cheaper than that, or more likely, get more features for the same price. However, more features isn't a great use unless you have someone able to exploit those features.
