Second night of a terrible recurring dream, growing in intensity. In the dream I am in my bed asleep when I become aware of a boy in the room. The night before last he was curled up where the laundry basket is. In the dream I think he is some kind of harbinger and there is something I am meant to do, instructions I am meant to follow but I can't remember them. Confused and frightened, the first night I yelled, 'I see you/him!' and woke up. Even in the dream I don't know which sentence is meant. Last night I saw him again, other side of the bed, same sense of foreboding, same confusion and forgetfulness of a procedure, something I am meant to do but can't recall; again I yelled, 'I see you!' same screams only this time real enough for [livejournal.com profile] larians to wake me up and cuddle me back to sleep.

I don't know if the problem is the arrival of the ill-omened boy, or me forgetting the instructions regarding how to deal with him. I am having problems with my neck and shoulder muscles, so perhaps this is what's ruining my nights.

Daytime life is lovely right now. The pond I made last year is a hectic craziness, full of froglets, with damselflies on every reed. My first waterlily will be blooming soon. The pond is near lost in a thicket of brambles and honeysuckle, a pair of vegetable thugs I'm expecting to deter cats from following the frogs between their stalks. [livejournal.com profile] larians' veggie patch looks promising: the dwarf peas are in flower, delicate little blooms. Spring into summer, wonderful time!

This sort of "emotion without knowledge" is very common - the dream gives you the strong emotion but cannot create the factual context - hence you think you have forgotton something or cannot understand it, whereas it is simply *missing*.

In you dream, Perhaps the fear and confusion is really the boy's - if it happens again, see if you can ask how you can *help* him! (I think this also works with ghosts altough I have never has the opportunity to try it out)

Interesting, I've had the missing content thing before, in fact, I recall one dream where people sat me down and repeated their instructions, firmly and positively so I wouldn't forget them on waking. I did of course!

I am 'hoping' this dream will recur tonight, so I can try the whole *Can I help you?* thing. Just got to control the scream reflex.

I have checked the chronicles and there is nothing to worry about.

Thank you my lord, for putting my mind at rest. I will just have to presume the varlet seeks my knowledge/underwear.

When small boys appear in my bedroom at night they tend to be disorientated on their way to the toilet then claim to be scared and need tucking back into bed. Children do gravitate towards adults at night. I jump a bloody mile when I see the oh so real Charlie at the end of my bed and I'm half asleep.

Maybe it is the intrusion that is terrifying rather than the character? If so maybe tell him to go back to his own bed, its still nightime, everything is OK but small boys need their sleep.

This is a very interesting take on it...

He is not so little a boy; Night one he was curled up where the laundry basket should have been, and he looked between 11 and early teens. Night two he was standing near the other side of the bed looking more mid than pre-teen. I should have used the word 'youth' rather than 'boy' really, but I suppose my choice of words indicates that I saw him as junior and harmless. So yes, I think it was the intrusion, not the boy that frightened me.

I was prepared for dream 3 last night, so of course, it never happened! If he turns up again I will try to ask him what he wants, and if he says nothing, I'll follow your advice and tell him to go to his own bed.

How are you and the boys?

We are fine - boys like puppies so noisy and energetic. Charlie enjoying imaginary stories he comes up with the title and I have to tell the story which is hilarious "When Daisy lost her eyes" was a challenge. A pirate stole them thinking they were dubloons.
