Today an excellent friend comes to join us with her daughter. I want to tidy everything up but am diverted this morning by my cousin who is on the edge of proposing to his girlfriend; he wants me to help him trawl jewellers' shops to choose a ring. Apparently the spec is white gold and diamonds, not an easy find in downtown Lewisham but we'll see what we can do.
