smokingbootI went to university, did a lot of stupid things. Never did I have carnal relations with a)a corpse b) an animal c)the corpse of an animal. It isn't normal student behaviour and Tory apologists pretending otherwise make us all sound like we belong on the Carnyland Express. Stop squealing for god's sake, you just make it worse.
Lord Ashcroft seems to be very clear about his motives; he is angry. A major donor to the Conservative party, he feels he was promised a job, got offered nothing for ages with Clegg being used as an excuse, and was then presented with the possibility of being a junior whip, a position he disdained. So there's a lesson or two here; first of all, it is probably inappropriate for any donor to expect to 'get' something for their donation, be it a job or whatever, because the money then ceases to be a donation and becomes a bribe. If this is an attitude prevalent in Tory culture, it needs to be curbed. Secondly, only make promises you can keep, third, keep those promises. Finally, never face-f*ck a pig, alive or dead. There is no way it can end well.
