Full on kidney failure, they think caused by lymphoma.
Seven days. Then, if an owner doesn't come forward, they will put him to sleep.
I don't know if I have robbed him of his last Spring, or saved him from a miserable death.

Date: 2018-04-05 06:34 am (UTC)Thanks for your kind words and care. I don't know about the specifics but they say the tests reveal advanced kidney failure, and think it's caused by lymphoma; this struck me as concerning, because in cats the latter is connected to Leukemia, but I have been assured that the bloodworks rule this latter out. The clinical manager talked about Monty's kidneys being distended and swollen out of all shape.
I will try to take your advice. With the exception of the inspectors who have been wonderful, the RSPCA has not impressed me on this occasion, and I worry that in trusting them, I somehow let him down. Still, as you say, he has everything he needs and is warm. They are also keeping him on pain killers, which is the massive plus.
I don't think, from what they say, he is worrying about the humans around him. He seems to be drifting away...
