Strange dream

smokingbootI dreamed I was in the hairdressers, and just let them style my hair as they pleased. The result was that I found myself with very long hair and about three thin long plaits, two of which seemed to join together in a semi-mobius strip loop that crossed my forehead and stuck out a little bit, like the brim of a large hat. It looked a bit African to the extent that when I saw it I was worried about being accused of cultural appropriation*. Somehow the third plait was loosened, in fact the whole thing loosened up a bit. There was something about at least one old friend (not anyone I could identify in real life) and a cluttered place we were travelling across.
Then Dad was there, asking me to explain to him the principles of augmenting the results of a dice throw from RPGs. I used the example of trying to represent a gun being fired with the use of a dice, how you might roll the dice, get the numbers, then add or subtract numbers according to the presumed circumstances; e.g if you were trying to represent shooting someone point blank you might add a considerable bonus number, meaning that you met the required total to represent a success, whereas if you were shooting from far away or undercover you might have to subtract, making that total harder to reach. And of course you might add or subtract for other circumstances too, like the kind of gun you had etc. I tried to explain and failed because we kept getting interrupted.
Then Dad produced a couple of dice and threw them. Only they weren't dice at all, they were large vaguely cuboid white crystals with no numbers on them that I could see. I don't recall much after that.
Makes me think it's a 'Life's what you make it ' style dream. Maybe the dice don't say anything, it's all down to what you add or take away. Of course, that's not true for everyone by a long shot. But at this time, perhaps it's true for me.
Despite the weird dream, I had a good night's sleep, better than I have done for days.
