What did the romans ever do for us?

Forget all that rubbish about roads, administration, aqueducts...Rome's most magnificent contribution to the evolution of mankind is the bath. Steam rooms (I bow to the Scandinavian influence) yay. The scent of Eucalyptus, the sound of soft music, huge crystals perched on podiums...and then a cold shower, followed by the jacuzzi. Honey me up, world of the senses, you are so my friend.

Admittedly I had paid in pain before that. Our local gym is a posh vast affair, and I had fought my way around many complex machines, done a few laps in the pool, nearly crippled myself with ab crunches; it hurt so I guess it was good for me. In any case, the steam room/cold shower/jacuzzi combo was my reward. All it needed was champagne on ice.

Our whole weekend was a chillout; We saw 'I Robot,' (Poor Asimov! See, see where the earth is churned over the tombola his coffin has become!) We went round to Sensible But Spiritual and Laughs Like Gravel's place and chatted for a delightful evening. And we did as little else as we could. Party weekends are great and I wouldn't miss one, but the summer has been busy and we're both a bit wiped out...

Now my partner is working in Switzerland for the week. I have too much to do (Maelstrom downtime isn't helping!) so naturally I have taken today off to try and refocus.

My main focus is on going back to the gym, skipping all that hard work and hanging around in the jacuzzi, a great plan, improved by immediate follow-through.
