I thought I knew and cut each long-kept tress
from around my face, to see the bones come through
Then a man who knew me when I was a child
said 'You are still the daughter of the wild
Haunted as when I first caught sight of you.
And though you have some semblance of the wise,
Yet still the owlet watches through your eyes
Knowing that nothing they swear by is true.'
