Finally got her flowers! Took them five days and me breathing balrog-like down their necks, threatening everything short of generational vendetta. The nuts and bolts of Mum's life didn't exactly help the situation: Mum's phone kept not working. Mum kept being out. In the end, they left her flowers with a neighbour and she picked them up this morning. The Fortean Times subscription will be a birthday gift, because it's her day today or tomorrow (old school Spain the Night Watch called at ten to midnight and ten past, and she was born between those calls.) On that fateful night, her father insisted that her birth date be recorded as the 27th, because because to be born on 28th December, Feast of the Holy Innocents, was considered very bad luck indeed.
So she has her plants, which she loves, and she'll get Fortean Times which she'll enjoy. And tonight, we'll be at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow. And everything's going to be all right.
