Of Monstrous Beasts
May. 5th, 2020 07:37 amA cheese and wine zoom party on Sunday night made a zombie of me. We drank good wine, too much of it, but the only two cheeses I can remember were the Hebridean Blue and the Lanark Blue; too delicious to last the night. So yesterday I could do very little except join in with R making gorgeous little gyozas, and have strange dreams, where a muppet condor tapped its beak at a huge fruit I was holding. I let the bird haul it away. A huge wolf turned up out of nowhere; I am careful with wolf imagery. I love them as beasties and want to see them in the wild, but they share symbolism with enemies from a certain time, and this one was definitely a dire version. But apart from everyone moving around it, it gave no trouble. Then I was in some part of Granada behind the Alhambra, near a great factory, but there is no such place. The Alhambra is on a mountainside. I don't really note dreams after nights of excess, because in such cases I suspect the only message my psyche is sending me is stop stuffing your face!
God, I am eating a lot.
Last night, free of a protesting digestive system, my dreams were more sinister; Looking out of a grimy window when talking to LC, I could see a great thick sludge-brown river, which I assumed was the Thames. As I watched, something began to coil and loop in the water. I wondered if it was a large eel, but at one point it raised its head; it looked like some kind of mud covered dragon/cow with horns. It went under, but something kept moving towards the shore, and when it stepped out I was astonished to see a gigantic monstrous sow, with enormous tusks, full swinging teats and at least ten pairs of legs. She was very pleased with herself, and as she shook the water from her hide, I noticed all her piglets (sized up of course) running around her happily.
I have no idea why my head is suddenly full of strange beasts. I think my head is rebelling from the work it has to do today.
