Old friend on the ropes: Covid and kidney failure together. They say he's stable but still very critical, on dialysis. He's suffered kidney stone issues forever.

He is in his late 40s at the most.

All this at the same time as Mum pops her lid at my brother's revelation that he has had his first shot. She doesn't want either of us to have it, and declared herself to be fed up of the whole thing. I don't have whatever it takes to get this through to her, so it comes down to reiteration; i.e we are not risking anybody's life, let alone hers, because she saw something on Youtube. No, we cannot go through two international airports crossing our fingers til we arrive at her doorstep. I can't make her have the shot, but I can try to make her see why we are having it.

But yes, it's tiring.
