Headaches and kittens

Friday saw me in a strange glassy headspace with all the vision distortion and nausea of a migraine but with none of the pain. These pre-migraine things are a bore because everything quivers and moves as though it's underwater. Then it goes away and leaves you with a teeny little headache on one side of your bonce, inconvenient but nowhere near as masterful in its nastiness as yer actual migraine proper. This may be due in part to me stressing about the hospital, but I can't imagine that over 5 cups of coffee a day help.
The day was sparked up by the arrival of Cyanidemigraine and Evilwillow, as we start a new drow campaign. Very interesting, I have never played in a cultural background like this before. I don't quite know what I am doing, but it's interesting trying stuff out.
We also saw kittens. I have wanted a siamese/burmese combo for ages but they cost the earth, so instead, Larians suggested we look at a local litter of small black mogs. The tom and queen live in the same house and are both velvet mini panthers, and the kittens are, well, kittens.
Now, I am vulnerable to everything, sunsets, stars, widdle flowers, beautiful eyes, waves on the sea, music, voices, puppies, poetry, you name it - I am just deeply pathetic. Unless I have time to prepare, in which case I am hardassboot, with all the armour of the dynamically blase. Surprise beauty and rushes of emotion are hardassboot's greatest foes. I knew what was coming, braced myself, was ready to face the enchantment of tiny moogs, and I defeated it. They are beautiful but all kittens are beautiful. I could deal with it and walk away...except that Larians was standing there, eyes all soft and starry with kittings in his arms mewing up at him.
We are now the proud owners of two.
And I can state unequivocably that none of this is my fault.
They are five weeks old, very little catlets indeed. The owner looks to be rid of them at six weeks if they are fully weaned, so next Sunday, after the Stabface Forever Finale, may be the day.
The house is going to be ruined.

Yay Kittens!
Date: 2004-10-17 12:37 pm (UTC)The House doesn't have to suffer. Cats, being desert creatures, much prefer to use a litter tray than make a mess on the carpet. Though I would suggest catflaps in the back doors when they are older. Makes for much happier cats when they can get out and cause trouble outside.

A use for gerbils?

Date: 2004-10-18 10:04 am (UTC)There shouldn't be any need for them to trash the house though, just so long as you give a little thought to what is where and how you introduce them to things. Oh yes - given the colour of your carpets, I'd buy some carpet shampoo sooner rather than later!
I look forward to cooing and fussing at them on the 30th.
