A Renfield Moon
Oct. 14th, 2022 01:36 pmWeek of the full moon? Oh indeed it is. Never been more so. These evocative names for the October Moon would be all very well any other year, Hunters Moon, Blood Moon, Seed Fall Moon... But for UK 2022 forget them; this year we're having a Renfield Moon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HccC9oANvE
Starting with those idiots chucking a tin of tomato soup over Van Gogh's 'Sunflowers.' It upset me so much, VVG's work was like a friend to me way back in the bad old days when mental illness was bursting my life apart like a tree root through pavement. Fortunately the painting is behind glass; the greatest victim was the vandals' credibility. Silly little barsets did more harm to climate activism than an entire Koch funded campaign.
If you make Art your enemy, you will lose, however great your cause.
But let us move on to comedy gold, and for a moment, pause and salute a PM who can make Boris Johnson look almost - almost - competent. It is at times like this one can see Truss murmuring to herself 'he flies I don't,' as she clutches her bonce and limps off into the shadows.
Liz Truss has jettisoned Kwasi Karteng, and now plans to implement a policy she vowed to dump, the Rishi Sunak plan to put corporation tax up from 19% to 25%. She's pretty much abandoned their economic policy and thrown her old friend under a bus to stay in power. But is it enough?
Seems our new Chancellor is Jeremy Hunt. Now, Jeremy is not a nice man, and some of his policies are atrocious, but I have heard from mates who live in his constituency that he was an excellent local MP who pulled out the stops to help them when they needed. Also he's not clinically insane, a plus we dare not currently assume in our leaders. Right now I think he's still out of the country as his new position is announced; bet he's terrified of coming home. His position feels like an insistence from party grandees, an uncle figure bridging the gap between idiot child and the terrifying methuselahs lurking in the HOL vaults. Liz, Liz, by the light of the Renfield moon, I don't think he's there to be your friend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulOT1u3YQzo
