Well, those Just Stop Oil idiots defaced Stonehenge just in time for solstice.
If these aren't shills for big oil, they should be. Someone somewhere would pay loads for the harm they are doing to the reputation of environmental activism in the UK.
It's been a long time since I attended sunrise at Stonehenge because it does get littered, numpties do jump on the stones etc, but once I went through a very powerful mystic experience there. I wasn't intoxicated or influenced by drugs or fasting or anything like that, it had no connection to all the celebration around me. To this day I don't know what to make of it. Avebury is as special but in a different way; I grew up close to Avebury, went there almost every weekend, and have felt all sorts of thing there. But at Stonehenge that one time I saw something I could not have seen, filling my head and self. It was real.
I don't share the details because many things lose their magic if you put them into words. People read a telling, judge it as of interest or not, discard the teller as mad/fanciful etc. Besides if someone else found themselves in exactly the same place in exactly the same time/circumstance, there would be no reason to believe they would experience exactly the same thing. I know, I know, anti-scientific method!
There's still an old magic at Midsummer, day and night. And if it's not the season where you live, then may you find a magic anyway and may the sun roll round to you with a big smile at just the right time.
