God help us if the make the upper chamber elected, there will be nothing to stop a government with majorities in both houses.

Date: 2005-03-10 08:03 am (UTC)I am used to considering the House of Lords as a ridiculous anachronism with no place in a modern democracy. But democracy without education is as bad as any other tyrant, and God knows, we despise teachers in this country. In a time of non-thought and hysteria to the point of injustice, I am very relieved at the work the Lords have done.
