I have voted according to the dictates of my conscience and my hopes.

I suspect I am a total fool.

You can never be a fool if you follow your conscience.

My conscience has a tendency to be a bit naive.

I'm feeling so down about this election, I'm on the verge of wallowing in darkest Orwell until Saturday.

I think I need cake.

Quite right. If a few more people acted and voted according to their principles, instead of using some half-baked notion of tactical advantage, we might get a better indication of who the people want to represent them.

Even if the systemn prevents them from getting it.

Thanks for making me feel better about it - I came away from the polling station feeling like a total ninny, gutted at the loss of my old loyalties. But you are right; if we don't directly vote for the policies/reps we approve, how will they know what we want?

Exactly. Search your feelings and all that. (Jedi get all the best lines...)

So is Blair Palatine?

And if he is, what the hell is Howard?

Howard is Palpapantine. Blair is Jar Jar Binks, I suspect. Jar does kick off a war by making a bad decision, after all.

Blair = Jar Jar

I never noticed before, but the physical similarities are downright alarming:-O

And all this time I thought Dick Cheney was Palpatine...

Choices, choices...

Hard to decide, they were clearly separated at birth!

Dick has more Palpatinic menace; it could be that he is Palpatine the Phantom Menace, while Howard is the Emperor disintegrated into a raddled hologram.

Michael Howard isn't Palpatine; he's far more old school.

Howard is Grand Moff Tarkin.

Is it that you have been disloyal, or those to whom you were previously loyal have betrayed you, and are therefore the ones who have been disloyal?

No, they didn't betray me...they were, in the end, just politicians, playing the game of guess the face with Demos, same as had worked so many times before. It's my requirement that has hardened; I honestly think the planet needs something better than Spitting Image cynicism for the 21st century. We are never going to have a working fair democracy until our educational system goes beyond social conditioning, and works at the liberation of minds.

I can't believe I just wrote that. More cake needed!

The words of Bryan are wise indeed - but I'm sorry I missed the rant!

Looking forward to seeing you:-)

I have voted according to the dictates of my conscience and my hopes.

No one could ask for more.

Here's hoping your election isn't as pants as ours was.

Sadly, I think it will be...

And so it turns out...

On the whole, results could have been a lot worse.
