A run down of the week so far:

1)Spooky experience a couple of nights ago, inappropriate to mention in detail right now, so I'll wait until the time demands hokum and it all seems less relevant.

2)Some people out there really suck. Yes, I know, everyone else knows this, but I never really believe it, and even when it's proved, I still make the same mistake next time.

3)...And then I lose my temper, this time really horribly, in a way I never want to repeat.

4)Handbag disappearance. I thought it had been nicked from the house again and nearly blew my stack. In fact one of the cats hid it under the bed.

5)Work. My work is crap right now, because I am so stressed out.

The cure for 1) is to write it down, so I will, when I am less freaked about it.

The cure for 2) is to identify the problem and remove myself from it in a timely and constructive way. There, that's me being a grown up, and also leads to the cure for 3).

The cure for 4) is done. Now the cats must be told off, the moment they wake up.

The cure for 5) is to buy a wee tree. Quince, apple, dwarf conifer, magnolia, holly, flowering plum...no more flowering cherry, the area is full of them. I need something that will thrive well in heathery soil, shallow and well drained, and of course, it's got to have some wonderful folklore/pagan/old world stories around it. I was thinking of Quince because though the fruit is hard to eat raw, it makes totally easy and delicious jams and preserves. But then, when am I ever going to make jam?

Then I realise the real reason I want a Quince tree is because nobody buys them anymore, and I feel sorry for them.

Time for pie.

mmmmmm Quince Jelly yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I identify with 2 and 3 too. Too soft, that's my problem.

Quince, number 2 and number 3.

Never tasted it. I've had quince cheese before, and that was yummy. But all of this requires cooking and my track record's not great with these things.

Re 2 and 3, yes, I'm too soft, stifle the feelings and then express them in totally outrageous ways, displacing like a loon. It's a rubbish habit, and I've almost got it beat, but occasionally it still surprises me...

Doesn't *look* too complex. But with all these things, never known til tried. Quince jelly is one of the nicest things on good fresh white bread with good butter.

2&3 - I'm slightly different I think. I ignore my own intuition in very specific circumstances. If person A who I think a lot of seems to think person B is ok I believe them over my own feelings. This is obviously stupid, but only in hindsight sadly. Am watching for it. Likewise, think I have it beat, but still creeps up on me.

Plum blossom falling,

With apologies to [livejournal.com profile] bytepilot

Cherry blossom drifts,
Summers sweet silken lament,
Chavcat stuck up the tree.

Quince jelly is really easy to make - jam is in fact only time consuming and hard work if you make loads of it. I picked a quinces last year and used them to make two jars of jelly - I still have half a jar left.

Is it nice? Everyone says Quince jelly is lovely. What's the difference between it and jam?

New job?

If your work is really crap you may be interested in something I have just started doing - online research. It doesn't pay fantastic rates but you can do it at home when you fancy working. You just need to have broadband and a computer.

The website for the details is www.aqa.issuebits.com

Thanks very much for this. I just checked it out, and you're right, it looks dead useful for me.

Now I have to find two references (not my present employers, they are freaks!)
