We didn't play well...
Jun. 25th, 2004 09:03 ambut we played well enough to win. I don't really care about football (It's not as though it's rugby after all) but dud reffing really winds me up wherever I find it. There was absolutely nothing wrong with Campbell's goal, except that the referee was having a no-brainer. That decision was the apogee of the ref's ineptitude, built up to all game with a stream of appalling and inconsistent decisions. I swear he thought Vassel was breaking some kind of rule by actually being on the pitch with the ball, but in the end he extended the nervous tic of his whistle-blowing to any white shirt approaching a red one. As long as they didn't tackle or attempt to score, England were safe.
Video-reffing for God's sake. Hasn't spoilt rugby. Let's avoid farces like this again.
And now. The weekend beckons. See you around, LJ!
