Scritch scritch scritch
Feb. 11th, 2025 09:19 am'Do you have any of your breast left?' His voice boomed down the phone.
Why yes, I keep it in a jar in the kitchen, next to the pickled eggs. Why do you ask?
'Oh, wait, I see from your notes it was just a lumpectomy.'
The Dr sounded disappointed. I tried to rescue both of us from the conversation but to no avail.
'It could be shingles I suppose... ' he carried on, 'if it is, it's too late for us to do anything much about it now. I'll prescribe you something to stop the itching.'
Shingles. Why were they all talking about shingles? Because the rash is on one side. What they don't mention is that radiotherapy can enhance the possibility of shingles outbreaks on the body, usually on or near the radiation sites, precisely where this is all happening. This might be what's going on, except that I am not in pain, just irritation and soreness. Besides, in order to get shingles you must have had chicken pox. I think I had it but I don't remember, and I dare not ask Mum. Back in the days when she was still connecting to planet Earth, she would get me vaccinated for anything at any time. I recall having Rubella and TB jabs, plus endless tetanus shots, I don't recall if I was vaccinated against the other childhood diseases. I still think it's some form of radiation dermatitis.
Short of going in and being physically examined, we can't be certain. In photos one series of red dots looks much like another.
Anyway, here it is, and it is thoroughly uncomfortable. Gosh, I am very tired. This is another day I may not get very much done at all.
