1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Something overwhelming but very private. Made a voice reel. Made a showreel. Made a pond. Compered a magical festival. Gone camping with toddlers.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Can't recall so probably not! This year requires more organisation from me. Contacting the necessaries each week, trying to update this journal more often, losing weight, finding other stimulating work and manifesting my ideas in tangible form.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Wow! Is anyone not giving birth? Wonderful chum
squintywitch brought young Julia into the world, and the lovely
thalinoviel gave birth to Thomas. With apologies, I'm sure there are others I've forgotten. Was
blackcurrants little boy Ben born in 2010?
4. Did anyone close to you die?
John Golden was not close, but I recall him well. Again, apologies to those who slipped my tired mind. Respect is always there.
5. What countries did you visit?
Spain to see my mum. Kent isn't another country, it just seemed like one...
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
A lot!
7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
October 8th for reasons to remain private always.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably the showreel.
9. What was your biggest failure?
The strange exhausted stagnation that marked the first half of the year.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Winter snuffles.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Some cute funny corydoras and Rapido, the sublimely surreal golden apple snail, all living happily now in the aquarium.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
larians for being so excellent! [Unknown site tag] for her incredible generosity and creativity, but in general, all my chums for being so game and blythe:-)
Those many who campaigned for heads of state to donate towards the cause of Saving the Tiger (£127 million apparently) those who campaigned for Chagos to be turned into a marine reserve successfully and those still campaigning to stop the sell-off of British forests.
13. Whose behaviour left you depressed and appalled?
For me this year has highlighted the greed and short sightedness of the human race. I find myself appalled by our bedrock belief that we are the point, and that everything that happens is for us or about us. A horrible species. Be sure you are very exceptional before you add to the problem.
14. Where did most of your money go?
I honestly do not know.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Things mentioned above.
16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Starryeyed- Ellie Goulding
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Marginally happier.
b) thinner or fatter? Marginally fatter - oops!
c) richer or poorer? Um. Marginally richer. I hope.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Creating.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Observing human beings. The more you see, the less you want to.
Standing still while dashing around. This is an ability of no value whatsoever.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Working, eating, sleeping, watching the box set of 'Bones'.
21. Did you fall in love in 2010?
Nope. This has been a year of disillusionment and disenchantment barring the most important to my heart. A lot is being peeled away. This might be a good thing, but it's not easy.
22. How many one-night stands?
Dear oh dear. While it's nice to have been offered the option, the answer is Nah. I prefer lying down. With mah man!
23. What was your favourite TV program?
Bones, Supernatural, Scrubs, Two and a Half Men...I don't think I paid proper attention to anything this year.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Wipe out. Too busy.
25. What did you want and get?
The things I made. Pole dancing lessons!
26. What did you want and not get?
The things I have yet to truly strive for.
27. What did you do on your birthday?
Saw the West End smash 'War Horse' courtesy of wonderful ,lj user="larians">
28. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
More varied work.
29. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
High boots, short skirts. That's all.
30. What kept you sane?
I never made that claim.
31. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Jensen Ackles but only as Dean Winchester. David Boreanaz but only as agent Seeley Booth.
32. What political issue stirred you the most?
Environmental ones, see 12.
33. Who did you miss?
You. Let's get together sometime!
34. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010;
Want it? Make it or find it!
35. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
It's all in Constellations by Darwin Deez:
Twinkle, twinkle little star, how i wonder what you are
there's a million little lights when the sky turns black tonight
are there patterns in our skies, are patterns only in our eyes?
or is a constellation just a constellation?
is a constellation just a consolation?
wrinkle, wrinkle little scar, count the freckles on my arm
if freckles don't mean anything, does anything mean anything?
or is a constellation just a constellation?
is a constellation just a consolation?
we are twinkling stars resurrected
just like twinkling stars we seem connected but i know that
a constellation is just a constellation
constellation is just a consolation

Date: 2010-12-30 11:53 pm (UTC)Ben was born this year, yes. I'm afraid I'm not exceptional, but there's always the possibility he might be. He's delightful, and asks for very little. This is a start.
