Valentine thoughts
Feb. 13th, 2004 02:12 amMy love is sweeping me off for a surprise weekend somewhere today, and this morning is going to be frantic with last minute packing. I am tired but excited and pleased. I love surprises!
But before I abandon myself to the delights of Planet Lurve, here's a strange valentine for any strange wanderer who might appreciate it:
I died for beauty, but was scarce
Adjusted in the tomb,
When one who died for truth was lain
in an adjoining room.
He questioned softly why I failed?
'For beauty,' I replied.
'And I for truth - the two are one;
We kindred are,' he said.
And so, as kinsmen met a night,
We talked between the rooms,
Until the moss had reached our lips,
And covered up our names.
Courtesy of Emily Dickinson of course.
