The Dahhkness of Dawkins

The Telegraph has revealed that Richard Dawkins is apparently descended from a line of arrogant tossers. A couple of chums who met him inform me that he very evidently demonstrates the arrogant tosser gene to any who disagree with him.

What's this to do with his point?

I don't agree with him, but he's no more right/wrong for being a slave owner's descendant, and he's daft to fire back over this; it gives him the air of an aggrieved glass-house dweller.

This whole mess is a waste of a good episode of 'Who do you think you are'.

But of course he was going to get annoyed over this, the man is entirely made of ego. (Of course he doesn't believe in god, he'd have to expect that there was something superior to him.)

I'm happy to dislike Dawkins but I see no reason to drag his ancestors into it. I had to explain to my mother earlier this week that, as a result of autosomal DNA testing, we now know that we share a pair of great-great-greats with a Jewish family whose roots lie in 19th century Prussia. As we're terribly Anglo-Celt otherwise, it's a mystery how this came to be but also interesting. Mum likes the idea but I had to tell her that sharing one pair of greats out of a possible 16 to 32 pairs didn't amount to a huge contribution to the gene pool.

Because I enjoy thwarting my brother's desire to claim Cohen ancestry? :D It's just as likely that a German Jewish family had Protestant ancestors.
