The Conqueror
Jun. 19th, 2014 10:10 amShe came at first to overtake the garden
The old fence fell before her,
ivy and Japanese knotweed commenced
a two pronged war; she laughed, defeating them
with ease and powered through
until she met the lordly mountain ash
and apple dame who welcomed her in peace.
Between their fruitful shades she strove for light
and won, with smiles, the love of all the garden
Now tangled between fruit, berries and leaves
suncrowned and rubygold, bright at the core,
abundant scent as gifts to all her court
Between the boughs, she nonetheless is queen
who brings the rose of summer to the green.
