A fresher morning

There's still too much going on, but at least I feel less sleepy and ache-ridden. Rain always cleans my head up.

A friend asked me why I never write about work on LJ. Thing is, I try not to talk specifically about a given project until it feels right, which means sometimes it never happens and sometimes I can't shut up.

My belief is that work can be talked out of existence. Anyone who discusses their writing before it's done and dusted may not realise it, but their work is actually that discussion, not the writing. It's basic Hamlet syndrome; the play is not about Hamlet murdering his uncle, but about him responding to the idea of it. The longer he talks the less he does, the less 'doing' becomes the focus. So when doing is necessary, don't talk, unless it is an active function serving the process.

But that's just me.

It's not cold, the rain is gentle, I quite fancy a walk in it. Maybe later.
