It's good to be a 60s kid. Around for Lennon and Bowie, Elvis and Moon landings, around for Pratchett and Nimoy, around for great TV and films, around for conscience and consciousness and conservation to begin to be taken seriously, around for an easier life, around for the bright bonny bit between wars, around for the NHS and the welfare state and for the optimism of the 60s and 90s, around for dishwashers and mobile phones! And if the world seems menacing, well, it probably is... but it seemed just as menacing in the 80s. We know how to recognise the bad guys, and if we don't let them buy us, there's lots we can do. And if we do let them buy us,we've learned enough from sex, drugs and rock'n'roll to grasp basic concepts like cause and effect.

And I still like panda mascara, white boots and near fatal amounts of eyeliner. Many fun things and some good things had their place in my time.
