Finally we caught Monty Scabcat.
Finally the RSPCA got here before he panicked.
Finally they are taking him to the animal hospital in Putney.
The gash around his neck seems to be worse now, easily an inch wide, all the way round, skin peeling back. I hope it is not some form of mange. It's like something happened to open up the original wound and make it bleed again.

The RSPCA man was gentle and kind and so, it turns out, is Monty, who let himself be picked up and made no fuss. What a gentle giant, only liable to damage himself through extensive headbutting of doors when he wants to get out They say he will be easy to rehome. I hope so, because he is never going to be a pretty cat.

The RSPCA man couldn't give me a case number, but claimed he would phone me later with one, to help me keep track of Monty. Apparently, the RSPCA inspector/cat catcher hands the cat to the hospital and that's the end of his involvement. Then Monty goes to some RSPCA place where they try to find his old owners or get him new ones.

Got to say, not impressed with the RSPCA's administration. Right now I am up for a cup of tea and a bath. I may phone the Putney hospital at some point.
