I've given it time, given it sleep, given it a moment's breather. And after all that giving it occurs to me that the best I could do for the sake of Peace on Earth would be to strangle him.

So because he cannot be without bustle, he suggests to me that I create a crib sheet for the group re copyright. I say I will think about it and don't get back to him because a) it is a stupid idea, copyright/artistic and intellectual property rights are complex issues with many facets. Better to deal with things on a case by case basis, and b) unlike him, I am busy.

Then, he tells us that his work have asked him if he can give them a photo because [something about a book but he doesn't really know] he points out that our group have some. People wonder about the copyright and I mention that he is perfectly at liberty to use his own photos as he likes. He then reveals that he has sent his work a photo. It is not his, it is one that a member of the group put up on the FB page. He didn't ask this person, and is telling us about this after the fact.

I have had to work very hard not to tear his bloody head off. The lady whose work he purloined said that to keep things simple on this occasion she was happy for her photo to be used with neither credit nor payment. He said he would get her a thank you if they came back to him. I told him he should pursue them if they don't, given the circumstances.

Then I created a crib sheet straight away. I shouldn't have had to break off from a mountain of editing to create a polite way of shouting DON'T STEAL at this energy sink of an individual, and have satisfied myself with a moment's passive aggression ('Never use someone else's work without permission...When in doubt, use common sense and courtesy.') Is it enough? Probably not. There's something up with him. But it's nothing that a nearby hyena couldn't sort out.
