Basil

Our Tesco's basil is flowering now. I know you're supposed to pinch off the tops, that herbs become more bitter and less tasty once they've popped their blooms, but I can't bear the idea of the little plant not fulfilling its destiny. It is outside now, so that bees may find the flowers and have a quick sup. I won't leave it out there too long though, fearing that my emo-driven info-light approach to gardening may just kill the poor thing.

Yep, yep, yep. You are supposed to pinch the apical meristems so your basil won't bolt.

Think of it this way: By inhibiting its flowering, you are conferring upon your basil the blessing of immortality— Well. At least till the end of summer. 😀
